Yasmin Rafiei
Investigative Reporting Program at UC Berkeley
Yasmin Rafiei is Reporter-in-Residence at the University of California Berkeley’s Investigative Reporting Program. She is also an M.D. candidate at Stanford University. Her journalism focuses on health care reform. Rafiei’s latest investigation, on private equity-owned nursing homes, was published in The New Yorker. She has also been published in The Guardian, Foreign Policy, The Globe & Mail and The New England Journal of Medicine, among others. Her work is informed by experience in health policy. Rafiei has worked as an advisor to Canada’s COVID Task Force; an analyst at Chatham House, a global affairs think tank; and she’s completed graduate studies in politics, philosophy, and economics at Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.
While participating in the Tarbell Fellowship, she will complete an investigative piece for the New Yorker.
